Lina Lin

Intern

Lina is a student at Drexel University majoring in Economics and Business, passionate about civic engagement and community empowerment, and working towards future goals of developing data-driven policy solutions in addressing social disparities.

Her civic journey started from her love for reading, gratitude, and a desire for effective change. Inspired by the graciousness of her neighbor who gave her books and nurtured her love for reading, Lina started a literacy club in high school in hopes of giving back to her community the same treasures she cherished in her childhood. During her two years in leading the club, she organized multiple book drives in school and collected and donated over 400 books for children and families across Philadelphia.

Lina was a past fellow at PhillyBOLT, where she learned effective community organizing and leadership skills to raise awareness of social issues and inspire change, later helping organize a press conference at the Pennsylvania State Capitol with her team. She has also served as an intern under Councilmember Nina Ahmad, conducting policy research and educating constituents on maternal health, environmental sustainability, and widespread electric vehicle adoption.

At PA Youth Vote, Lina is a grant writing intern under Lamarra, and serves as the Editor-in-Chief of Youth Voice Mosaic, a student impact magazine she launched with support of fellow collaborators to empower youth voices and cultivate a community of leaders.
Currently, she is a coach at the Institute for Citizens and Scholars, mentoring youth across America in their civic projects ranging from connecting students to elders in nursing homes to encouraging youth to register to vote and creating arts-based communities through providing strategic feedback and advice. On campus, Lina recently founded the Drexel chapter of the national NextGen organization, dedicated towards mobilizing and empowering students to organize, vote, and lead.

Through her work and pursuits, she hopes to embody the kindness that her neighbor showed her, and the values that books instilled in her: to be empathetic, compassionate, and driven.
