PA Youth Vote is a nonpartisan collaboration of youth, educators, and organizations working to elevate youth voices, improve public school civics education, and empower youth as civic actors. Together, we are building youth political power and changing the policy and culture around youth voting statewide. 

Position Summary

PA Youth Vote is seeking a strategic and relationship-driven Regional Director for Allegheny County. This role blends leadership with hands-on program delivery, overseeing regional civic education initiatives, cultivating relationships with schools, community organizations, and coalition partners, and managing grant-supported activities to advance measurable progress toward PA Youth Vote's 2035 North Star goals. The Regional Director will also build and lead a regional team, supervising staff, interns, and volunteers, while directly engaging young people in voter education, leadership development, and civic action. Key Responsibilities

  • Strategic Leadership & Regional Programming

    • Develop and execute a regional strategy aligned with PA Youth Vote’s statewide vision and benchmarks, with a focus on increasing youth voter registration, education, and turnout.

    • Set clear, measurable goals for regional impact and oversee progress toward PA Youth Vote’s 2035 North Star goals.

      • By 2035, at least 70% of all eligible 18-year-olds in the Pennsylvania communities we serve—regardless of identity—will be empowered, educated, and engaged to shape a fair and inclusive democracy, with at least 65% voting in their first eligible election. We are committed to closing participation gaps across race, income, and geography to ensure that civic engagement is both accessible and equitable for all.

    • Lead the implementation of youth civic engagement programs and initiatives across Allegheny.

    • Identify, take on, and lead new projects as the needs and opportunities arise.

  • Partnerships, Outreach, and Coalition Building: 

    • Represent PA Youth Vote in regional coalitions, task forces, and public forums.

    • Work with the Executive Director to set outreach and partnership metrics and goals.

    • Manage and support the Director of School and Community Partnerships in building and sustaining strong partnerships with school districts, community based organizations, and grassroots organizations; coordinating outreach and tabling opportunities; and leading the work with the Allegheny Youth Vote Coalition.

  • Program Development and Direction:

    • Adapt established PYV workshops and programming to the Allegheny context and engage youth and community members directly in voter education, issue campaigns, and leadership development opportunities.

    • Eventually (after an estimated 6 months) hire, train, and support interns and staff to co-facilitate and deliver programming.

    • Oversee on-the-ground outreach efforts, including workshops, school visits, and community events and manage and support young people in planning events such as forums, town halls, and school based actions. 

  • Regional Grants & Program Evaluation

    • Manage regional grant-supported activities, ensuring alignment with goals, deliverables, and compliance requirements.

    • Work with the Executive Director (and eventually, Director of Development) to identify funding opportunities and cultivate relationships with local donors and supporters.

    • Help elevate regional impact through storytelling, media engagement, and contributions to public-facing materials and campaigns.

    • Track regional program outcomes and contribute to organization-wide evaluation and learning.

    • Manage program and events budgets and spending reports in coordination with the Executive Director.

  • Team Management

    • Recruit, supervise, and support regional staff, interns, and volunteers.

    • Foster a supportive, inclusive, and accountable team culture grounded in PA Youth Vote’s values.

    • Oversee legal compliance and expectations of Allegheny staff, interns, and program youth, including clearances, training, safety and security, risk assessment for events, incident reporting, and emergency procedures.

    • Maintain nonpartisanship by all PYV staff and in programming and communications.

Qualifications

  • 3–5 years of experience in community organizing, youth programming, or civic engagement.

  • Reside in or near Pittsburgh and have access to reliable transportation.

  • Proven ability to lead regional strategy and implement on-the-ground mobilization efforts.

  • Experience supporting youth-led or intergenerational models of organizing and decision-making.

  • Demonstrated experience with coalition building and collaborative advocacy.

  • Strong event planning skills and comfort managing both digital and in-person activities.

  • Knowledge of local Allegheny civic, educational, and media landscapes.

  • Experience overseeing staff or interns, with a commitment to mentoring and team development.

  • Strong communication skills, especially with youth, educators, and community stakeholders.

  • Grant reporting or program tracking experience preferred.

  • Self-directed, highly organized, and values-aligned with youth power, equity, and inclusion.

  • All three legal clearance current within the past five years: 1) Federal Criminal History, 2) PA Criminal History, 3) PA Child Abuse History

  • PA Act 126 Child Abuse Mandated Reporter and Sexual Misconduct Trainings

Compensation:

Full-time position with a competitive nonprofit salary (Minimum $60,000) commensurate with experience plus benefits.
